AWOC Local Groups
Our local groups enable people ageing without children to come together for peer support, to share experiences, to obtain information and work with local organisations to ensure that the needs of people ageing without children are represented and included in policy, planning and services for older people.
There are informal AWOC groups in different parts of the country (currently England only), and if you would like to explore forming a new one or help in finding a group close to you, please contact us through our Facebook group. Each group runs independently and controls its own agenda and activities.
We encourage local AWOC groups to become part of a partnership agreement with the national charity and participate in bimonthly online meetings to share ideas and experiences of campaigning at a local level to promote AWOC’s aims.
However, some groups prefer to meet on an informal basis just for social networking and to benefit from the support of others in a similar situation.
Organisations in the statutory, voluntary or private sectors wanting to set up an AWOC group can download our guide for organisations here – Guide to Running groups for people ageing without children
